ChatGPT Release Notes: June 2026 Updates Bring Personal Finance, Better Dictation, and Model Retirements

OpenAI has published its latest ChatGPT release notes for June 2026, detailing a busy month of product changes across the chatbot, Codex, and underlying models. The most recent entries, dated June 26, expand personal finance tools to Plus subscribers, upgrade dictation accuracy, and formally retire GPT-4.5 from ChatGPT — while earlier June updates reworked the model picker, scheduled tasks, and how large pasted text is handled.

Personal finance in ChatGPT now rolls out to Plus users in the United States on web and iOS, joining Pro subscribers who already had access. Android support has also arrived for both Pro and Plus tiers. Eligible users can connect supported financial accounts, view a dashboard, and ask questions grounded in their own spending and account data. On the same day, OpenAI swapped in a new speech-to-text model for dictation across all plans. The change is invisible in the interface but measurably improves transcription: word error rate dropped at least 10% in top languages, with gains for Japanese, Korean, Chinese, accented English, and several European languages, plus better handling of noisy environments and mixed letter-number input.

GPT-4.5 is no longer selectable in ChatGPT as of June 26, including for custom GPTs, though existing threads can continue on GPT-5.5. OpenAI had announced the 30-day sunset on May 28; API access is unaffected. Other notable June highlights include Codex Remote reaching general availability with QR-based device pairing, a GPT-5.5 Instant refresh aimed at shopping and planning conversations, simplified model-picker labels (Instant, Medium, High, Extra High), scheduled tasks replacing the Pulse feature, and interactive charts plus full-screen writing blocks on the web.
